Nonprofit Standards of Compliance
Mobile Accord is committed to advancing mobile philanthropy in the United States. It is our belief that this can best be achieved by creating an environment that establishes trust and confidence for those participating in charitable activity via the mobile device.
Mobile Accord Inc.’s Nonprofit Standards of Compliance Standards (NSC) ensures that all client organizations, whether charitable, political, or educational in nature, meet specific standards of legitimacy, thereby safeguarding the integrity of our products and services, the reputations of our clients and relationship carriers, and the interests of the end user.
The NSC establishes benchmarks to make certain an organization is fulfilling its obligations to those who benefit from its programs, to contributors, and to the public. The NSC also dictates client activity once utilizing Mobile Accord’s messaging platform, ensuring it meets Mobile Accord’s Code of Conduct, the CTIA Consumer Best Practices Guidelines, and the MMA Code of Conduct for Mobile Marketing.
Both directly and through partnerships, Mobile Accord Inc. helps nonprofit organizations (NPO’s) utilize the mobile device as a communication tool and direct fundraising vehicle. Understanding that our clients are groups that tend to be both heavily scrutinized by the public and vulnerable as vehicles of illegal or malicious activity, we have developed strict compliance standards to which prospective organizations are asked to meet before using our messaging services.
These standards are intended as a framework for all new Mobile Accord clients to operate within. All Mobile Accord sales, marketing, and operating personnel are to take reasonable measures to ensure new clients presently meet the practices and principles outlined.
We ask that all Mobile Accord client NPO’s meet the following standards:
- Have a well-defined mission and programs that work to efficiently achieve that mission.
- Be governed by an elected, volunteer board of directors.
- Have policies in place to prevent conflicts of interest.
- Practice sound financial management and comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Provide the public with information about their mission, program activities, and finances.
- Be accessible and responsive to members of the public who express interest in the affairs of the organization.
- Maintain 501(c)(3) status.
Mobile Accord reserves the right to discontinue services to client organizations that fail to meet these standards.
